Electronics English-Pinyin-Chinese
Issues or challenges by shopping in China
When foreigners want to buy things in China it's better to communicate in the language what people here understand best, Chinese. This is necessary to bargain and let them know that you are not a fool or a tourist ;-). However, you will have to do your best, not only to get the best price also to get the thing you want and not something else. If your desired good are displayed then it's ok to just point at them and people will understand. Anyway, it's not the politest form of communication but will lead to a result, most of the times a good result.
Electronics
Ok, when reading the common travel guides you will find some basic help to order some noodles or water in the restaurant, asking for the way to the airport etc. But if you are reading this website then your interests are different. The most things we want to buy are not listed in all the common dictionaries and accessing them might be a problem because the electronic market we use to buy our stuff has a weak mobile phone network signal. This lead to the idea to create a dictionary of electronics, covering the English word, the Pinyin (for easier speaking) and the Chinese (when speaking fails just point at the word) for resistors via transistors via Schottky diodes up to microprocessors etc. - in short all kind of components you need to populate your breadboard or PCB.
But now we just start the dictionary and I hope we will find help from all of you to fill it with whatever you have in mind. If there is a certain number of words then we will provide it as a PDF that you can download it in case you need it in a place without internet connection.
Additional we are thinking about to create an App for easy access.
Admins: Please add whatever you can. If something is redundant don't worry we can sort it out later before creating a PDF.
